So ..... Barbie on a cupcake?
I better not try to explain this one :)

El Snacktator is going to have to let this one marinate.

ha ha ha :) I would think the El Snacktator, king of snack enthusiasts, would instantly find my variation on the cupcake satisfying! :)

What's to explain? If I were a naked Barbie doll, that's where I would sit.

Ha Kate! I'm goin' goin' goin' gone, yes I am! :)

Hi Ann Marie! What ... she's just enjoying herself a cupcake?? :)

Hey Kim, blush is the perfect color! :) Thanks for commenting!!

Absolutely Jeff! That is EXACTLY what I'm thinking! Thanks so much for stopping by!!

It's Cordon Bleu Barbie!! I so needed to laugh this morning. I'm seeing a series and a blurb best seller in your future...so fab.

Oh geez, the metaphors are running through my head faster than I can analyze them.

How does that saying go? "girls are sugar and spice and everything nice"... well this chick's all spice despite the sugary seat!

Very brave, Ms. Appleton. : )

I love it! Your presents are always so full of personality and commentary... it's fun to see the present ripped open and the commentary there for all to see.

Love the diversity. People are complex, aren't they... :)

whoa. I'm speechless ;)

Your post turned around my whole week so I had to comment again. With your emailed post entitled 'Pink Cupcake' I was expecting a lush painting of a beautifully wrapped gift. A pink bow - given it's breast cancer awareness month - with cupcake wrapping paper. Well...we got the package alright! I am so grateful for your talent and your wit. You are a blessing.

this is a really brilliant painting.

I almost hated it when I first saw it b/c I kind of hate Barbie but the more I looked at it the more I loved it. You conveyed so much in you brush strokes. I am in awe. The expression on her face is genius.

Seriously, whatever that is worth from some random internet person, I have been staring at your art and loving it the more I looked, and also wishing I could see the painting in person.

cheers! - Kathleen

I can not tell you how thankful I am for your comments!!!

Silvina, thank you! Spice is right! I love your comment "sugary seat" :) could be a metaphor for other than cupcake too! :)

Marilyn! Thank you for both your comments. I can not tell you what perfect timing your second comment was. Just earlier I had received a private email stating how offensive this painting was, so you are the blessing, thank you!

Jennifer, your comment is so appropriate too! Most of the time my inner dialogue is hidden in a box, wrapped perfectly with a bow. Maybe we can only keep up that perfect exterior disguise for so long before unwrapping ourselves and accepting all our complex layers. :)

Thank you Mary! I hope you are speechless and grinning!

Kathleen! Thank you so so much. And I do care tremendously about random internet comments :) It means so much to me for people to take the time to look at my art, and especially as you did, to look long enough to get beyond first impressions! I love that you noticed her expression too!! I can not thank you enough for saying such nice things about my paintings!

Anyway, thank you ALL for not abandoning me! now it's time for me to go make some cupcakes! :)

I am speechless and laughing. I just showed this to my friend who is an avid collector of all things Barbie and she said " I think I have to go lie down ."
ROFL
