May

Sold
5x7 oil on canvas

My southern transplanted self celebrates the end of May!!
Finally the arrival of green ..... and flip flops!

Making the block printed version of this painting first really helped me find the "caricature" of the present, which I was inspired to push for after hearing Wayne Thiebaud in THIS inspiring video.  Check it out!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!

I Love Linoleum Block Printing!

I believe it was Kimberly Santini who posted a comment and predicted that I might soon be inspired by a black and white color scheme :)

Black and white has been the LARGEST color combo in my life these days.

So that certainly explains my latest obsession with Linoleum Block Prints and Etchings.  Suddenly instead of gorgeous colors, all I can think about are stark graphic images.  Plus I really want a grouping of black and white for my house.

Many of you may have worked with block printing in art school, I'm self taught and learned about lino cuts through the next best thing, You Tube!

Basically here's what I did:

Then framed like so:

These framed prints are available for $100 + $15.00 shipping.  I made a limited printing of eleven, each is slightly different - being lighter or darker.  CLICK HERE for a downloadable PDF file to see each print and compare. The frame size is 16x20, 1 inch deep black matt finish metal frame with UV protection glass.  The print size is 6x8.

Please email me any questions, and for more purchase information CLICK HERE

I plan to make a new carving for several months until I get my grouping, and one last thing, I couldn't resist gorgeous color :) a 5x7 painting of this silk green ribbon present I'll post next!
