May

Sold
5x7 oil on canvas

My southern transplanted self celebrates the end of May!!
Finally the arrival of green ..... and flip flops!

Making the block printed version of this painting first really helped me find the "caricature" of the present, which I was inspired to push for after hearing Wayne Thiebaud in THIS inspiring video.  Check it out!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!

I love Wayne Thiebaud. Years ago I saw a tv story about him and his painting without knowing I said "OH I AM GOING OUT TO BUY SOME OF THOSE TOMORROW" hah little did I know the price. I still don't have one but maybe if I hit the lottery.
As for your May painting, I love it but are you feeling any BLUE? MB

Love it! Green is one of my favourite colours and I love all the different greens in this one and the touch of purple at the base - another favourite colour of mine.

I love it too and that's why I bought it! Interestingly, I have an artist friend named Joe Draegert who worked for Wayne Thiebaud and has some wonderful work of his own!

Hi MaryBeth, thank you so much for commenting and ..... hummmm... blue is a fav of mine, but my peonies are about to bloom which means lots of pink! :) But I can't seem to predict my muse, so who knows! Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you Marlo! I so enjoyed painting these greens! And loved adding in the purples and pinks touches, thank you for noticing!

Hi Anonymous! Thank you so much for purchasing May! I am so incredibly envious of your friend who worked for Thiebaud! What an amazing learning experience that would be!!! He inspires so many artists and seems to be such a nice man. I love him so much! :) Thank you again for May!

Hello Karen. Checked out your blog this morning for the first time in a while and I am blown away. Just love the way you paint and WHAT you paint. Can not imagine painting "girl power" . I feel so adhd some days that I know I would keep forgetting where I was working. Amazing! Love the the deeper colors in "May" too! Gush, gush! Adding you to my blog roll so that I can keep up better.
Congrats on your new pooch!
