Love it! I am in awe of how you got the black ribbon in such perfect curls - they just bounce of the canvas. And yes what artist has not painted a skull before!

I enjoy your presents so much. As I study each and every one, I realize how much one can learn from doing a study such as this. Shadows, shapes, textures, all in helping you to make your make your subject more real to the eye. Wonderful. I hope you don't mind that I took your idea and painted a present for a friend of mine who is battling Brain Cancer. We tied grey ribbons all over town in hopes that everytime someone sees the grey ribbon they will pray for a cure for Doreen's Brain Cancer. It is a terrible fight and it looks like the cancer may be winning, but I wanted her to have something to remind her that sometimes there is Beauty in Grey. We call her tumor the Grey Matter. So I'm hoping that at the end of this journey that present will hold a cure for her cancer. Thank you for such inspiring work.

I have just recently come accross your blog. What a find. I am a painter who works primarily in oils as well. I absolutley love your work. It inspires me to paint. Your subject matter is ingeneous! The paint is so juicy with texture. I hope you don't mind but I would like to direct my some of my classes to take a look at your work. Fantastic!

Thanks so much to everyone! I really appreciate everyone's comments so much, and I'm so sorry my response time has been so slow. I recently moved, and have been without home internet and have to rely on infrequent coffee shop trips for wi fi.

Sande ... crazy sense of humor by most accounts! Thank you thank you thank you!!

Thanks Jeremy, this was a super fun way to make a traditional still life subject into "me." :)

Thank you Tammy, you are too kind! It was hard to keep the actual ribbons from bouncing out of place too, they practically moved as I watched them.

Hi Sharlette, thank you for your comments and I'm so very sorry about your friend. I hope for her recovery.

Thank you Debbie!! You're a gem!

Hey Christine M-B! Thank you, yes yes yes .. skulls are a must and you've done them so beautifully!!!

Thank you Christine B! I just might do a series, this one was too much fun to stop at one!

Hi Deltra! Thank you!!

Lovely! I almost wish the ribbon had been a ball and chain. :) I actually once used a plastic ball and chain on a bridal shower gift. Fortunately, the bride had a sense of humor.

Terrific idea, wonderfully rendered. It feels almost sculptural.
